OUR HISTORY
The studio traces its origins to 1967, when Amato Teta founded his practice in San Diego after graduating from Carnegie Mellon University. His focus on thoughtful residential design established a foundation that guided decades of work.
The practice continued with Allan Teta, who earned his degree from the University of Southern California and gained experience at award-winning firms before joining his father in 2006 to form Teta Architecture, Inc.
In 2014, TRE Architecture was established, continuing this lineage of practice with a focus on residential architecture in Southern California.
The meaning of TRE
TRE, named after the Italian word for three, reflects the founder’s heritage and a foundational architectural idea. Informed by Vitruvius’ principles of utilitas, firmitas, venustas, the practice is guided by Form, Light, and Context.
OUR TALENT
TRE Architecture brings together a team with diverse professional backgrounds in residential design and construction, contributing a range of perspectives to each project.
The work is shaped by varied experience across design environments and project types, resulting in architecture that responds to site, context, and client needs with clarity and restraint.
